The Community of Hope is a group of lay chaplains in the Episcopal Church that follows the Precepts of the Rule of St. Benedict: obedience, stability and conversion. They pledge to devote time to regular worship, prayer, daily reading of The Rule and attendance at monthly Circle of Care chaplain meetings.
To become a commissioned chaplain, trainees must first enroll in a 14-week program of training which prepares them for their future ministries. These ministries can include ministering to the sick, homebound, homeless, youth in detention or other pastoral care assignments as made by the clergy of their respective parishes.
Current Community of Hope chaplains at the Cathedral are Franklin Kline, Dave Malek, Miriam Jenkins, Lore Gross, John Pestka, Phyllis Mithen, Sharon LaRue, Joe Thompson, Jane Wallace, Calvin Warner, Michael Bohannon and The Rev. John Kilgore.
